Compulsory water meters for West Sussex?
Water metering in areas affected by serious water shortages, including West Sussex is being proposed by the government and the Environment Agency,and now the South East Regional Assembly has added its voice to the suggestion.
The government is asking if water firms should have compulsory metering as an option in their management plans. People can have their say over the consultation until 24 April.

Hide AdThe assembly wants the Government to consult with the public on replacing standing charges with a bill calculated according to how much water they use.
It says metering could significantly reduce water use and protect the area from shortages due to climate change and growing demand.
