Climbing Kilimanjaro to aid air ambulance
Mr Smith has lived in Squirrel Close for 30 years and has taught law and business at Hastings College.
He has also served as a local magistrate.
He leaves for Africa later next month and aims to reach the 19,340 feet (5,895 metres) summit of Kilimanjaro on October 3.

Hide AdOf his chosen charity, Mr Smith said: “Sussex Air Ambulance is literally a life-saver and has so far flown more than 350 missions this year alone.
“But the cost of providing the service is almost £2 million per annum and is entirely funded by donations and fund-raising.
