Charles' Post Office problem
Like many other people this Christmas, he found himself having to pay a 1.15 handling fee for the privilege of receiving a card which was slightly over Post Office regulation size for a second class stamp.
After measuring the errant envelope, he told the Observer: "I just think it's a total outrage. I am sure lots of people like me will buy a book of stamps and put their cards in the post box without knowing that they are breaking this daft regulation.

"You simply don't know what you are receiving when you go up to the office. All you get is a note through your door saying to call at the office because there is a package which has been underpaid."
