Paramedics were called just before 10.30am today (September 21) to the Surrey Street car park, where a car had flipped on its side, and one ambulance was sent. Police and firefighters were also called, with the latter cutting open the vehicle to rescue two occupants. An ambulance service spokesman said there were not thought to be any serious injuries, and at least one patient was taken to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester to be checked over. The ambulance left the scene at 11.45am. The incident damaged the wall of the RNLI lifeboat station, which backs onto the car park. A spokesman for the charity said that once the car had been cleared, its engineering team would assess whether there is any structural damage to the building. The damage was not anticipated to impact the operation of the lifeboat service, the spokesman added.
