Call to support Littlehampton black bream breeding conservation zone
Erin Pettifer said the long-awaited network of marine conservation zones, promised by the Government for 2012, was under threat.
The zones include the offshore area between Littlehampton and Worthing – the most important regional location for breeding black bream.

Hide AdErin urged residents to write to under-secretary for the environment Richard Benyon in support of the zones.
They were the result of two years of consultation but there is concern the government’s conservation bodies will recommend only a fraction of the 127 sites are designated.
“Wildlife trusts are lobbying hard for the successful completion of a process that will make the difference between the life or death of our seas,” said Erin.
“We need to demonstrate the weight of public support for marine conservation zones. This is a once in a lifetime chance. We can’t afford to let it slip away.”
The trust is asking anyone who would like guidance on writing to Mr Benyon to visit the wildlife trusts’ campaign website.
