Bikers share stories in East Sussex fire service survey
The service launched Tales of the Road in July, 2015, to coincide with Bexhill Motofest and has captured statistics and stories from the perspective of the biker.
Garry Alexander, from the service’s intervention and incident reduction team, said: “With a significant number of people on our roads using their bikes to get to work and for pleasure this survey has enabled us to capture a snapshot of opinions and advice.”

The survey, which covered a range of areas including rider demographics, training, collisions and advice for other bikers and road users, presented some alarming statistics.
A shocking 82 per cent had been involved in a near miss and more than half of the participants had been involved in a road traffic collision while on their bikes.
Most felt driver distraction, including mobile phone usage, was the biggest problem on the roads as one respondent said: “Please look out for riders.
