Bognor Regis MP Nick Gibb opened the fete and thanked the society for all its hard work in managing Aldwick Village Green and its surrounds for the enjoyment and benefit of residents and wildlife alike.
There were nearly 30 stalls, one of which was organised by Ted Elliott, who was a Barnardo’s boy at Margaret House children’s home, known as St Margaret’s and now celebrating the 150th foundation year.

Secretary Sandy Hiscock said: “We were serenaded by the RAFA skiffle group and our MC, Mr Tim Holland, interviewed both visitors and stallholders throughout the afternoon.
“The Fun Dog Show proved very popular and dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages took part.
“Our thanks to all who helped and those who supported us.”
The proceeds of the fete, just on £2,000, will go towards providing new mowers and equipment to help the society to maintain Aldwick Village Green and its surrounds, and to help keep the area looking at its best.

Hide AdThe society was formed under Arun District Council’s Pocket Park Scheme, after residents were asked what should happen to the Pound and the land to the north of it. In 1995, Aldwick Green was registered as a Village Green.
Over the 25 years, working parties have laid paths, planted trees, hedges and wild flowers, created a snowdrop walk and made a wildflower meadow. Nest, bee, bat and ladybird boxes have encouraged more wildlife.
The society’s next fund raising event will be on November 12 at Mosse Hall from 10am to midday.
