Alcohol licence stirs up village concerns
The new leaseholder of Ferring News, in Ferring Street, Ferring, has applied to Arun District Council to sell alcohol between 6am and 11pm, seven days a week.
The parish council has objected to the application, giving various reasons associated with the prevention of crime and disorder, prevention of public nuisance, public safety and protection of children from harm.

In its objections, the council said: “Ferring Parish Council would like to express serious concerns about the opening hours and feels that the sale of alcohol from such a small retailer could compromise the relative freedom from crime currently enjoyed by Ferring residents.”
