24 hour dart marathon helps blind charity
Gary Simmonds, landlord of the Chequers Inn in Battle and Wayne Martin, who plays darts for the pub team, played 328 games during the epic fundraising event shortly before Christmas.
The pair had expected to raise between £200 and £300 for the charity but were thrilled when generous supporters helped to double this amount.

Speaking about the darts marathon, Wayne said: “It was very difficult towards the end, but we had lots of people in supporting us through it.
“I had a lot pain in the back of my legs by the end of it.
“But it was very good fun trying to do it.”
Landlord Gary said: “It was for a good cause and they were very appreciative we did it.
“It was hard going, but both Wayne and I were overwhelmed with all the support and sponsorship we got.”
The Chequers is already planning its next charity event, with staff aiming to raise funds for a Battle charity.
