MP 'very disappointed' Adur and Worthing is in Tier 2 despite low Covid-19 rates

Today (November 26), it was announced that all of West Sussex will be in tier 2, also known as 'high alert', for areas with ‘a higher or rapidly rising level of infection’, according to the Department of Health. The only areas in tier 3, the lowest tier, are Cornwall, the Isle of Wight and the Isles of Scilly. He said: Very disappointed that Adur and Worthing have been placed in Tier 2 despite having some of the lowest Covid rates in the country. I want to see the clinical and economic data and assessment that led to the decision and if not convincing then I will not be voting for it."

Hide AdAs previously reported, for the week of November 10 to November 16, 88 out of every 100,000 people in Worthing were infected with coronavirus, according to figures from Public Health England – significantly fewer than the national average of 210 and the lowest rate in Sussex. Adur's was 112 per 100,000, one of the lowest figures in the county.
MPs will have to vote on the proposals. Sir Graham Brady, chairman of the influential Conservative backbench 1922 Committee, said he would be voting against the plans.
