Worthing's Montague Quarter: Work to build flats above shopping centre has begun

The work to build new homes is taking place at the Montague Quarter shopping centre, where businesses such as Curds and Whey, Aunty Bunny's Hut and Precious Little Things were based until they all closed down last year.

Cayuga Developments Limited bought the Montague Quarter two years ago with plans to add up to four additional floors to the buildings to enable it to build flats.
And it confirmed this week that the work has begun to construct 43 flats above the shopping centre, as well as improve the business premises in the Montague Quarter.

Hide AdLast summer, plans to add up to three floors to the centre to allow 42 flats were approved by Worthing Borough Council.
Cayuga said: “Cayuga are working with retail tenants to improve the arcade and the public thoroughfare. We have been cleaning the arcade glass and improving the lighting so as to attract new tenants to the empty retail units.”
