Eastbourne parking wardens unable to issue fines in town centre roads
Although a Traffic Regulation Order – which is required for East Sussex County Council to implement parking places, waiting, loading and unloading bays, speed limits, double yellow lines, taxi ranks and bus and cycle lanes – is in place in Eastbourne town centre, because road markings have not been installed there are no parking restrictions in some roads.
As a result motorists have been able to park without restrictions or subsequent fines in parts of Cornfield Road and Terminus Road, especially opposite the Railway Station.

A spokesperson for East Sussex County Council, which is responsible for the pay to park scheme in Eastbourne, said, “We are continuing to work with the contractor to ensure lining work on the new road surface in Eastbourne town centre takes place as soon as possible.
“Until the road markings are completed we would urge motorists to park responsibly, considerately and safely.”
