Fighting against a level playing field in a man's world
Girls with Balls is inspired by real-life events from 1921 when the Football Association banned women from playing at affiliated grounds. At that time, the women’s game attracted crowds of up over 50,000 - significantly more than the men - and women were paid to play. The ban was finally lifted in 1971.
With this as the backdrop, Girls with Balls shines a light on women’s lives today, as well as a look back to 1921 and asks, what’s changed?
