Like father like son - both Rice-Oxleys in Battle festival
Very different music and styles, but never the less, both voices being put to good use during the Festival.
Tim is one of the Festival Patrons, while Patrick Rice-Oxley has just become the Chairman of Battle Choral Society, and as such, has been instrumental in arranging for the choir to sing at St Mary’s church in Battle again after a long break.

Hide AdThe Choral Society’s concert will take place on Thursday October 22 in St. Mary’s and Patrick reports that the choir is absolutely delighted to be singing there. A mixture of music will be performed with the theme taken from Hubert Parry’s mighty anthem I Was Glad’
Other choral classics to be sung are taken from concerts performed in the past including Mendelssohn, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, and Brahms. Judith Coleman, soprano will be joining the celebratory concert singing Vivaldi, and Mascagni’s tour de force – the Easter Hymn.
The concert starts at 7.30 pm and tickets are £10 which can be bought through the festival website www.battlefestival.co.uk through various outlets such as Farrago 79 High Street and Eggs to Apples Hurst Green, on 01424 319 982, or on the door.
The event sees the Battle Choral Society returning to its roots, and under the baton of Musical Director, John Langridge, looks forward to welcoming you to a programme of music that will uplift and enrich your evening.
